The 95th World Esperanto Congress, meeting in Havana (Cuba) with 1002 participants from 59 countries,

Considering

that the United Nations has proclaimed 2010 the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures,
notes

• that the diversity of cultures in the world is an important part of humanity’s rich heritage,
• that for the past 123 years Esperanto, as a neutral language, has helped to build bridges between peoples and cultures, and
• that the World Esperanto Congresses, which bring together people from countries of all kinds throughout the world, are themselves evidence of that ability to build bridges,

proclaims the willingness of Esperanto speakers to work together with the United Nations and UNESCO to promote understanding between peoples while protecting the identity of all groups,

and invites the United Nations and UNESCO to make full use of their relations with the World Esperanto Association to achieve their objectives as effectively as possible.
